Hospice focuses on palliative (comfort) care, rather than a cure. A medically directed, specially trained team of professionals and volunteers strive to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs identified by the patient and their family so they can concentrate on living as fully as possible. HSC recognizes dying as a normal process of living and focuses on maintaining the patients dignity and quality of remaining life. Hospice exists in the hope and belief that, through appropriate support and care, patients and their family may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual preparation for death.
